The Return Of Jake’s Roadhouse
When I was in school at Purdue I loved Jake’s Roadhouse. Every Friday when my classes were over I would go down and have a couple of beers and a calzone. When I moved back to the area over a decade ago I would go back when the students were out of town to grab a calzone again. Both my wife and I loved it as students and as adults. It closed fairly suddenly so we never got to go in one last time. I would have loved to photograph the old building before they closed the doors for good. Earlier this year I saw this sign while on a walk downtown and got very excited. It took a while to open, but a week ago it finally did. We had the whole family down there to give it a try. It has a good location now so I hope that it does well and lets us enjoy the brand for a while longer.
A Little Old, A Little New
The fun part about the new location is that there are some elements from the old building that they incorporated into the new building. They also kept some of the parts of Chumley’s that made it what it was before Jake’s took over the building. I had a little fun making a few photos at the beginning and end of our meal. The last time that I had been in this building was in 2019 when I thought that I was documenting a Purdue win in basketball that would send them to the final four. That story never panned out, and the photos were probably never seen. It was cool to photograph in here again.
