The Warrior Sculpture

The Potawatomi Indian Statue Outside Of The LaPorte County Courthouse

This statue has always been cool to me. It was erected in 1976 which is the year that I was born. I have known this statue my entire life. It used to be the centerpiece of a cool fountain in between the courthouse and the county museum. Every time that we would go on the overpass I would look over at it. The area was redone years ago, and it now sits on the east side of the courthouse. It was put up to symbolize the piece between the local tribe and the settlers that were coming through. For me it is a reminder of the town that I grew up in. It is now almost 50 years old. Man it has been around a long time. I wonder if his knees hurt too?

A LaPorte Week

This week the theme for the blog will be LaPorte. I plan on posting both in the morning and at night with some photos from the town that I grew up in. Things change so fast that at times I felt like a stranger in a place that I used to call home. It was fun getting out and exploring to find things that brought back memories of my childhood. This week I hope to share a few fun things about LaPorte.
