Music By The Lake
Last week I made a photo of the moon that I really liked. I was headed home after making the photo. I saw that people were leaving the concert at the Dennis Smith Amphitheater so I decided to try and see if I could get a spot. Years ago I used to be around City Hall a lot, and to me the mayor of LaPorte was like the President. At that time Dennis Smith was the mayor. I have always wanted to make a nice photos of this amphitheater, and I finally had my chance to do so.
A Chance Meeting
I was getting ready to leave the venue to get back home when I saw a familiar face with a camera. I pulled back into a parking spot to go and say hi. Bob Wellinski was the photographer for the local paper when I was a kid. His photos are the photos that shaped what I think photos should be. Early in life they are what I saw every day when I looked at the paper. It is always nice to catch up with him and to photograph alongside of him. Ten years ago I got that chance when the LaPorte football team made it to state. The photo above was made ten years later alongside of Bob. It is always cool to photograph with your influences.
A LaPorte Week
This week the theme for the blog will be LaPorte. I plan on posting both in the morning and at night with some photos from the town that I grew up in. Things change so fast that at times I felt like a stranger in a place that I used to call home. It was fun getting out and exploring to find things that brought back memories of my childhood. This week I hope to share a few fun things about LaPorte.
