Three Cameras At The Campus Inn
This is a fun project that I haven’t done on the blog in a while. I go to a place with three cameras to see what I can do with them. I usually try to pick cameras that are a little different from each other to get different results. Here I had an old Fuji film camera, my daily use Sony A7R3, and a Sony A7R3 that is converted to make infrared photos. All three cameras gave me completely different results. It is a fun project to do as it makes me think differently on site for each camera. Last year I made a point to get out and document the buildings down in the Levee area. They were all scheduled to be demolished so I made some projects out of them while they were still around. Now that they are gone the project kind of makes a little more sense. Here is a look at what my three cameras captured.
The Fuji AX-3 Loaded With Ektar 100
This at the time was my go to camera and film. I had a Fuji 50mm lens on the old Fuji AX-3 camera. I love the colors of Ektar. I have worked hard to create a preset in Lightroom to emulate these colors, but nothing beats the real thing. I wish that I had exposed this photo a little differently on site. I think just a little darker would have been perfect.
The Sony A7RIII With The Sony 24-15mm Lens
This is probably my most used combo. When I am out just walking around this is what is with me most of the time. Here it does exactly what I expected it to do. It gave me a photo that documents this time in history. It is nothing special, but that is kind of the point of this photo.
The Sony A7RIII (Infrared Converstion) With A Tamron 28-200mm Lens
This is basically my infrared kit. I bought the 28-200mm lens for a trip to Ohio a few years ago. I wanted something that could photograph a baseball game, but also get some landscape photography in as well. Now though it basically just sits on my infrared camera waiting for the next infrared photo. I break this camera out in the summer when the light is not so great for normal photography. When that is the case it is usually the perfect scenario for the infrared camera. Here though I am not sure about this photo. I normally love the infrared look, but here I am not sure.
My Thoughts On The Photos
This is the part of these posts where I talk about which photo that I like the best. Usually I am torn between the photos. In this case though the film camera just works for me. I don’t think this was the best case scenario for the infrared camera. My regular use Sony camera did a fine job of capturing the scene, but it is nothing special. The old Fuji film camera though gives me a nice nostalgic look that makes much more sense now that the area is a construction zone. This might be the easiest pick ever in this series.
