The Week In Sports

The Week In Sports

For most of the week I thought that this week there would be no version of this post. This is the slowest time of the year for me. I really had a post planned for today that had nothing to do with sports. As sunset was approaching on Wednesday night though I realized that the sunset could be amazing. It was not the sky full of color that I had hoped for, but it was pretty cool. The photo above might be my favorite one from the night. It has some action in it, but everything else in it is just summer baseball.

Photos For Me

In the past I was making photos for the team. When you are doing that you don’t take too many chances especially earlier in the year. When I go to games now though I am just making photos for me. I really don’t care about making typical photos. A photo like this one is a little different for me, and I really like it. When you are just making photos for you the editing process is much easier. You just pick the best of the best and dump the rest.

Familiar Faces

During the game I saw a couple of familiar faces. Pictured above is Corbin Payne who came into the game late to get some work in. I photographed him at Harrison years ago. While walking on the concourse I also ran into Evan Cooke who is on the Danville Dans. It is always great to see these young men keep doing what they love.

Using A Trick From Another Form Of Photography

Late in the game I was looking for players to put up against the sunset sky. I noticed Michael Farina of Danville leaning forward watching the action. I had this photo idea in mind, but when I got near him he became very aware of me. The photo was not the same. With birds you just have to stay still for a little bit and they go back to normal. The same held true here. I just kept my camera low and waited. I finally got the photo I came over to make.

More Photos From The Game

This is a long post for a week where I thought that I would have no sports photos to share. It was a beautiful night for baseball though, and I had fun making photos. The next month or so will be similar to this one. I don’t know what I will photograph if anything. We will see by next week if my sports post is a thing. My fall schedule is starting to take shape right now with jobs starting to come in. It is much easier to plan when you have things on the schedule. Right now though it is kind of nice to just relax and make photos when I am really into it. This fall I plan on taking things a little easier. Early on I may go heavy to get into the groove, but this year I want to focus more on the jobs that pay. It sounds bad to say that, but at the end of the day what I do is a business. When I am out there giving stuff away that takes away from the time when I could be making something that could help the business. This more relaxed schedule kind of sounds nice. When I am out there I do have fun though. Here are a few bonus photos from the night.
