Things Change Quickly
Last summer when the artists were all here for the Wabash Walls project I spent a lot of time at this wall watching Shane Hello come up with the design for it and then painting it. I knew at the time that a door was ordered, and at the time we hoped that it would come that week. It of course did not, and everyone went home. A couple of weeks ago I drove by like I tend to do and had the thought that if the door wasn’t in yet maybe it never would be. Of course within that week a dumpster appeared and the door was installed. This was a very cool work by Shane that now looks a little different. With murals though things will always change. The paint may peel or fade over time. These things were never meant to be permanent. I really did enjoy this one while it was there though.
Thinking About Murals
Last year one of my most fun projects was watching the artists that came to town for a week or so. I don’t consider myself an artist. There are people all around that do amazing things. That time period when everyone was here was one of the most inspiring periods that I have had. It made me step back and think about what I am doing. I loved how everyone had a different process from conception of the idea to getting it on the wall. I hope that I can be a part of the process again this year.
