The 2025 Taste Of Tippecanoe

A Hot Day At The Taste Of Tippecanoe

Saturday was the beginning of this heat dome that is over us. We had planned on visiting the Taste Of Tippecanoe, but we weren’t sure how hot it would be down there. We decided to wait until the sun was down behind the buildings so we at least had some shade to hang out it. It ended up being pretty good, and we found some fun options to try for dinner.

Dragging The Shutter

You have already seen a couple of photos where I was dragging the shutter. With so many people it always seems like a good option to show the movement at a festival. Here you also see one of the Indy Flowmies twirling their Dapostar. I tried a couple of photos freezing the action, and I quickly realized that it was worth the gamble to slow things down. That made the twirling motion much more obvious, and the person twirling seemed to know what I was doing because they kept their body very still.

Waiting For The Right Moment

I was waiting for the family to get some food when I realized that this could be a photo. The sky had a nice gradient to it, and the light from the food stand perfectly lit my subjects. I just needed them to look into the light. It took a while for both of them to do it, but it finally worked out. I made the three photos that lead off this post all fairly quickly together. They might be my favorite three of the night. When the light gets good it makes sense to get what you can while it is good.

Good Music

There is more than food at the taste. They have some good music as well. When we walked in we were greeted by Tyler Truth doing his thing. We then listened to Vickie Maris and the Green Room Rockers. I don’t get to photograph a lot of music so it was fun to play around a little as the bands played.

More Photos

I had some fun making photos during the night. We were not there long, but the light and music was good while we were there. To be honest I missed a few photos because I had some food, but that is kind of the point of going after all. We have been out of town on the taste weekend the last few years. It was nice to make it down there this year again. It has changed a lot over the years, but it is still a good time. Below are a few bonus photos that I liked from the night.
