A Graduation Doubleheader

Two Graduations, One Day

On Sunday I was on the campus of Purdue making photos of the McCutcheon and Harrison graduations. I have now photographed three graduations this spring. After having never done one before this was something new and fun to try. It is kind of like any event. You have to get action photos of the diploma line, some scene setter photos, and then some emotion. I used to get people made when I compared event photography to sports photography, but they are both events. There are many similarities between the two. Graduations are fun because you get to see people that you have covered all of these years have a cool moment. Next year I have to find a way to get to do this again.

More Photos From The Day

Both of these jobs like the West Side graduation were done for the Journal and Courier. In this day and age the best way to ensure that they keep hiring someone not on staff to make photos is to go and take a look at the galleries. Let them know that local events are worth covering. You can find the McCutcheon gallery here, and the Harrison gallery here.
