The Paxton Round Barn
I made this photo of the Paxton Round Barn a little over ten years ago. I was driving up to South Bend to cover the NCAA Women’s Softball Tournament for Kentucky when this barn caught my eye. I really didn’t know what to do with this photo. It was a weird time of day, and the light was not balanced the way I would have liked it to be. Ten years later I found the photo, and with a few tricks that I have learned over the years finally was able to show what my eyes saw on the day.
The Canon 17-40mm Lens
This past weekend I was talking about my 16-35mm lens and how much I had missed a lens in that range. I really overused my old Canon 17-40mm lens. I loved the way that it got me close in huddles and even for scenes like this one. When I was trading in gear for a couple of new lenses I did it to get a similar lens to that 17-40. I always dreamed of having the 16-35mm lens back then because I gained a stop of light. Now I have it in my lens collection. I need to drive back up here and make a photo again.
