The Spades Park Library

The Spades Park Library In Indy

The Spades Park Library is also known as Indianapolis Public Library Branch No. 6. It is also a Carnegie Library that was built in 1911. For most of these Carnegie Library posts the small town was given somewhere in between $10,000 and $20,000 for the small town library. In this case though this was one of six libraries built with a grant of $120,000 that Carnegie gave the city of Indianapolis. I love the look of these libraries, and I was glad that I was able to see this one.

A Nice Surprise

The point of this trip was to get dinner and a movie at the Kan Kan Cinema and Restaurant across the street from this library. As we turned the corner I gasped and yelled out “Carnegie Library!” as we went around it. Of course not everyone in the car knows my crazy obsession with these libraries. They soon found out when I had my point and shoot out making some photos from a couple of different angles.
