Downtown New Richmond

One thing that you notice right away as Gene Hackman drives into Hickory is the stoplight suspended over the road. As I pulled into the town I saw that same light still up there. This reminds me of the lights that I used to see in a lot of small towns as a kid. I was glad to see this light still up. On the corner of this building is the restaurant where Norman Dale had a meal and met some of the people of the town. It is under construction now, but the building remains the same. The is a simple photo, but I really like how it turned out.

Looking Back On The Movie Hoosiers

Forty years ago this year stars were all over Indiana filming scenes for the movie Hooisers. I knew about the scenes filmed at Hinkle Fieldhouse and in Kinghtstown, but I didn’t know that the town of Hickory was just under a half an hour from my house. This week I am going to look at some of the filming locations around me. With us being right in the middle of March Madness and the state title games for boys high school basketball coming up this seemed like the perfect time to visit a few locations.
