Newsies!

Seeing Newsies At West Lafayette High School

Friday night we went to the local high school to see their spring play Newsies. Who knew that a play about a labor dispute could be so entertaining? It really is amazing to me how these artists can make anything into a play. For most of the play I kept my camera in the bag. The light was too good to pass up at times though so during the second half of the play it came out of the bag and sat on my lap. When something interesting happened the camera would come up quickly. Sometimes I just can’t shut that part of my brain off.

A New Theater Lens

When I bought the Sony 28-70mm lens I had the thought that it would be perfect for making photos of plays. I really don’t have any ins to make these type of photos though. For some reason it seems like only one person can make dress rehearsal photos at a time. It is a weird thing to me. I cover sports where multiple people can work together and stay out of each others way. I really need to find a way to get out of my seat and photographing more theater. It really is fun, and a great way to make photos. Below are a few bonus photos from my seat.
