Revisiting A Photo Location

Five years to the date before making the photo above I made one from a similar location. I had just finished covering the Purdue women at the Big Ten Tournament, and I was getting ready to head home. I made this photo of the skyline with a photo idea in mind. I knew that I would be back soon but I wanted to make a photo because the light was good. The next week I had a meeting and made plans for my spring photography. We had talked about going to the NCAA Tournament, and everything else that was coming up. Within a couple of days everything had shut down. It was cool to finally be back here making photos again. I wanted to make this photo just because I was back. It wasn’t until I was getting ready to write this post that I realized that I was back five years to the day.

The Original Photo

This was supposed to be the first in a new series of photos for me. I had the idea to have a section on my blog just for photos that I made while out on the road. Of course a week later everything shut down, and this was the only photo that I ever put in this album. It would be three years until I started that idea back up again.

A New Look

I had some fun here as I was leaving the arena with my gold streak filter. I was just curious to see what it would do at night. I had fun using it inside of a couple of gyms, but what would it do in a situation like this one? I kind of like what it did here. There will be ways to have fun with this filter. I think that using it for car lights and painting them into photos could be a fun way to make some photos look more like a movie. Sometimes a new toy is a good way to spark some creativity.
