Walking Around Lafayette With Some New Gear

Walking Around Lafayette With Some New Gear

A couple of weeks ago now I had a couple of brand new lenses to try out. While my little one was in her theater class I took a walk around Lafayette to have some fun with them. I was just looking for ways to feature them. I had the new to me Sony 16-35mm lens and the new to everyone Sony 28-70mm lens. I have wanted the 16-35mm f/2.8 lens since my Canon days. It never made a ton of sense to get, but lately I have been wanting that focal range. The Sony 28-70mm f/2 is an interesting one. It is a great lens that kind of acts similar to a prime. I had been doing some theater photography lately, and I knew that it would work well for that. It would also be a great lens for sports and low light situations. How would they work on this walk?

A Fun Walk

It is always fun to use new gear. I had used it a little already on the way home from Indy, but this was a way to use it on locations where I photograph all the time. The main goal of the trip was to find some places to use the 16-35mm lens to test out the wide angle end of it. I also wanted to use the 28-70 around town to see if I missed that extra 4mm from my various 24mm lenses. The good news is that I never felt like I was missing anything on the short end. When I am normally out walking around though I usually have my 24-105mm lens. There were a couple of times where I noticed that I wanted a bit more on the longer end. Of course this was in good light. When I am out and about at night that f/2 over the f/4 on that lens would make a huge difference. Below are a few bonus photos from my walk.
