Two Icons, One Night – Lucas Oil Stadium

Seeing Billy Joel Again

Saturday night I was able to see Billy Joel play live again. The last time that I saw him was in 2003. It was awesome to get another chance to see him play live. He still puts on a great show. As he is taking the stage the final song from the movie The Natural plays. If you know me then you know that I grew up with that movie. It is one of my favorite movies of all time let alone favorite baseball movie. He then put on a great show before leaving the stage. He then comes out for an encore that tops everything that he has done so far. Saturday night he played five more songs, all high energy before finally leaving us. It was an amazing night in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Seeing Sting

I really enjoyed the Sting set. Before this concert I probably would not have bought a ticket to see a Sting show. After seeing him live I had the thought that I would like to see him live again. He played a nice mix of his own songs along with songs that he made with the Police. It was a fun trip down memory lane.

An Amazing Sight

During Piano Man the entire stadium pulled out their phones. Many were recording the song, but they also were using their cell phone lights to light up the arena. It was one time during the night when I took a video. For about a half minute I panned over the crowd to show just how cool it was. Live music is a great thing. Sharing a moment like this with thousands of your closest friends is always great. I can’t wait to do it again soon.

The Sony Point And Shoot Comes Through Again

I cannot bring my usual gear into a concert so I just have a point and shoot with me. The goal of the night is not photography. It is to enjoy the show. I am a photographer who loves light though so I bring the camera out every now and then to make a photo. I have it in aperture priority mode so that I don’t have to think too much. I want to grab that moment and then go back to enjoying the show. I had a little project on the day with a film point and shoot camera loaded up with Portra 800. When I get that film back if things worked out you will see a fun post with that film. Until then enjoy a few bonus photos from the night.
