Finding A New Jake’s Downtown

Tuesday night I was walking around downtown when I saw the sign for the new Jake’s downtown. When I was in school at Purdue Jake’s was a tradition on Friday’s. I would meet my friend there after class for a couple of beers and a calzone. When I moved back to town in 2011 I would visit there often. My wife went there as a student as well so we both had great memories in there. A few years ago the location on Chauncey Hill closed. It was a sad day. I made some photos of the old signage just as a memory for me. After seeing this building downtown I found an article in the local paper that said that this is close to opening, and some of the memorabilia from the old restaurant will be inside. We will have to pay them a visit when they open for sure.

Showing A Sense Of Place

When I thinking of a way to capture the sign I realized that the cars in front of the building would not add to the photo. I then decided to just make a tight photo of the sign over the door. To kind of show where it was I tried to move enough to get most of the courthouse dome in the photo. Right away you know that the new Jake’s is near the courthouse.
