A Long Hunt For Eagles Pays Off
Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time looking for eagles. It was a nice day so I wanted to take advantage of that and get out and find some eagles. My first stop I got to see an eagle grab a couple of fish, but it was just too far away. It then flew off down the river after the second fish. Just outside of battleground the river was still full of ice though, and it was my second and most successful stop. One amazing thing that has happened over the years is that the eagles have really made a huge comeback. At both stops there were eagles lined up all the way down the Wabash as far as I could see. They really seem to be thriving right now. This young one will hopefully keep that trend going.
Show Don’t Tell
I was very happy with this photo when I made it. I wanted to show the eagle and the reflection of the eagle. I showed this photo to a few people and explained how the eagle was riding this piece of ice down the Wabash. It was then when I had the thought that I should have pulled back to show that. In photography your photo or photos should tell the story. I should have had at least one photo showing how ridiculous it looked as the eagles rode the ice down the river. I was so excited to see this eagle on the ice that I was laser focused on making the reflection photo. I need to get better at telling the story. Below are a few bonus photos of other things that I saw along the Wabash yesterday.
