Rob’s Bridge At Sunset

Making A Visit To Rob’s Bridge

On Sunday I made a quick trip up to LaPorte to pay respects to the father of some of my friends. After leaving the funeral home I was heading to my parents house when I realized that the sun was setting quickly and I was near Rob’s bridge. The sunset was just starting to be great, and the sun pillar really adds to this photo. I am glad that I happened to be near the bridge at sunset. I try and visit this bridge every trip back to LaPorte to honor my friend. He was taken from us too soon almost 25 years ago now. When I was nine we moved to a new neighborhood and Rob was the first person to talk to me and make me feel at home. He was a good friend that never really got the chance to grow up like the rest of us. He was only 20 when he died. Every year around his birthday I can’t help but wonder what he would be doing now. In October it will be 25 years since he passed and I am sure that I will be back at this bridge again before then.

LaPorte Week

This week my afternoon theme will be all about LaPorte. It is where I grew up and spent a large portion of my life. I don’t get back there as much as I used to so it is kind of interesting to see what has changed over the years. Every trip around town is full of memories. It is weird how a drive can make you think of something that you haven’t thought of in years.
