Indiana State Basketball At Purdue

Finally Getting Back To Basketball

When I photographed this game early in the week I had not photographed a basketball game in over a month. I have been trying to cut back a bit on sports, but this was a little longer than I had thought that I would be out for basketball. Right now all of the local high schools have a photographer, and I had conflicts during the few home games for Purdue teams. As the new year starts I should be able to get back into a swing of things a little. I really felt a little rusty when this game started. It kind of felt like the first game of the year for me.

Welcome Back Jeanae Terry

During the first quarter I looked over to my left and saw former Purdue star Jeanae Terry waiting to go onto the court during a timeout. As a photographer you are not supposed to have favorites, but Jeanae was certainly fun to photograph. She played hard and was always in on the play. That makes things easy as a photographer. It is always fun to watch these athletes play during their careers here. It is also fun to see them come back later on down the road when they are doing well.

Changing The Plan

When the second half started one of the Indiana State players already had a double-double. I knew that I had photos of them, and I figured that they were the player of the game. That all changed quickly so I had to make sure that I had photos of Bella Finnegan because she could not stop knocking down threes. It is always hard for me to make a good photo of a three point shooter. They can get blocked easily, and their hands and arms often can get in the way of the players face. Here things lucked out for me to make a photo that I liked of Bella knocking down a three from the corner.
