Lost In The Woods

Getting Lost In The Woods

Last week was not the best week for me. It was a hard week with a lot going on. One of the highlights was the time that I spent watching the Harrison High School production of Into The Woods. It was a way to escape the week and enter a fairy tale. Actually it was several fairy tales. I will admit that I knew nothing about the play heading into my time making photos of it. I tried listening to some of the songs ahead of time, but they didn’t make much sense out of context. Just like Mamma Mia though I walked out of the experience with a few new songs to put on my playlist. I photographed a dress rehearsal on Wednesday night, and then went back for the Sunday matinee to watch it again with my little one.

Photographing Theater

For years I have wanted to photograph a play. This year I have gotten to photograph a couple of them. It is a great experience. The lighting is awesome and you get the chance to create some memories for some very talented artists. This group is really amazing. You would expect the leads to be good, but as you go through the cast everyone is great. They really have built something at Harrison. Photographing this group reminds me a lot of photographing the mural artists this summer. You have very talented artists doing amazing things all around you. To make a good photo you just need to point your camera in their direction. It is hard to pick just a few photos to post on here. Instead I will just post a link to my gallery for you to take a look at. You can see that gallery here. I hope that I get the chance to photograph another play in the near future.
