The Workbench

A Lot Of Reflecting

Today we start the final goodbyes for my dad. I spent a lot of time in the past week looking back at how much my father meant to me. I had not been in his workshop in a while. I was going to start putting some of his tools away for him, but before I did that I wanted a photo of the bench with the final project on it. Sort of freeze that moment in time. He would have been out here working on it a week ago. That is hard to believe. This has been an extremely long week. These next two days will be brutal as we say goodbye. I don’t say that to get sympathy, but rather because I am always honest on this blog. At some point I need to get it together. Today is probably not that day though. It has been weird for the last week to have a post go up and not hear anything from him. That was part of my daily routine. For some reason last week I decided to post my favorite baseball photos from this year. I normally wait until the end of the year to do so. I am glad that I did. In a way through the comments we had one last time to talk about baseball.

The Last Project

The last thing that my dad was working on was the cross that you see in the middle of the frame. I found a couple of completed crosses inside of the house. You could see that he was working on an idea. The first was a very straight forward cross. The second had a little more curve to it. This one took that a little further. If you follow this blog then you know that I am a big process guy. I really want to know what he was doing on this project. With most of them I got the story later on. This one I will not. You could definitely see what he was thinking about with a few crosses made near the end.
