The Ducks Come To West Lafayette
For the second straight home game at Purdue I was working for a publication for the visitors. This meant that my focus was not really on the Boilermakers. For the second straight home game that turned out to be an okay thing as Purdue did not play so well. When you are focused on the opponent it kind of takes the sting away from how the home team is playing. Oregon is a very good football team. They pretty much did whatever they wanted on Friday night. They ran a pretty vanilla offense and still marched up and down the field. The Ducks looked very good, and it will be interesting to see how far they go this year.
Friday Night Lights
Usually on Fridays I am at a high school field making photos. This past week I was of course at Ross Ade Stadium. I wanted to try this photo one more time. I made a version of it during the day last year, but I wanted to see how the pyro looked from this angle. I had one other idea, but it would have been too hard to get back to my gear making it. I will save that one for a home game when I have a little more freedom over my time. I really like how this one turned out.
The Game In One Photo
When I am making photos for a publication I am usually tasked with telling the story of the game in one photo. That can sometimes just happen right in front of you. When I made this photo I had the thought that it will be the one to run with the game story. I was right. For a lot of the night it seemed like I was just guessing wrong on the action a lot. The play kept going the other way. Here though it came right at me letting me make a photo that I really liked from the night.
A New Toy
With the local camera shop closing I picked up some fun things over the course of the last couple of weeks. One of them was a cross filter. I don’t think that I will use it much, but for fun every now and then it gives me a different look. Here just before the kick it was a good time to give it a try. I think that it is a little much, but maybe in the right application I can make something work with it.
More Photos From The Game
You can see my full gallery from the game here. No matter what the score is it is always fun being in Ross Ade again. When I came back out onto the field after halftime I wondered what kind of crowd would I see. Would the fans ditch being late on a Friday night? Nope. They stuck around to see what the Boilers would do in the second half. These are really loyal fans, and it would be nice if they got rewarded for their loyalty one of these games. Northwestern is looking like a really big game in two weeks. It seems winnable especially after a bye week.
