Folk Field Sunsets And Goals

A Beautiful Night At Folk Field

Last night was the final home game of the season for Purdue soccer. I had not been to a game yet this year. I have been to at least one every year since 2013 so to keep the streak going I went out with a small kit. I didn’t want to edit a ton of action photos so I didn’t even bring a big lens. I had my 24mm lens and my 12-24mm lens to make photos with. When I moved to this spot I was hoping for some decent action with the sunset in the background. I ended up getting a goal celebration which is the best case scenario.

Going Really Wide

Before making the photo at the top of the post I was on top of the stadium with my 12-24mm lens. The sky still had some good sunset light in it with the full moon rising as well. I wanted some action to happen on my side of the field for a cool pano of the stadium. I got lucky here to make the photo above.

Getting The Moon In The Photos

With a full moon rising I was trying different things to make the moon appear in my photos. When Purdue had the ball on their end of the field I would zoom in to 24mm to get a tighter version of the scene with the moon. The moon ends up being pretty small, but it is a neat addition to the photo. This type of photography means that I don’t have that many keepers, but that is okay. I really have no outlet for the action photos from here so just editing a handful of photos is alright. It is almost like a night off.
