Finally Seeing Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas
For a while now I have been following this comet and waiting for it to switch from morning to evening for some better opportunities to make a photo of it. I was ready to go Monday night, but the clouds just kept building all day long so I didn’t have a chance. On Tuesday I couldn’t get out to see it so it would be last night before I could finally see it. It is always nice to get to see something that is hurtling by the Earth at a great rate of speed.
Pulling Back To See More
When I planned this photo I was hoping to get the comet a little closer to the Purdue bell tower. I just didn’t have that angle though. I still wanted to pull back a little to show a little of what the comet was over from my point of view. I wish that the foreground was a little better, but you can only use what you have. I have a barn facing the perfect direction if I can get out another night to make a photo.
The Moon Rises
My favorite night to make a photo of the full moon is actually the night before it is full most of the time. It rises with a little light left in the sky allowing for better photos. The moon had already risen as I got to the top of the garage tonight, but I still made a couple of photos of it that I liked. I have not really made many moon photos this year so it was cool to get a couple in.
The Moon Over The West Lafayette Pyramids
As the moon was rising I was thinking that I needed something in the foreground to make the photo. The top of the parking garage has some decorative tops that could look like pyramids from the right angle. Here I had some fun with the moon rising over our local pyramids.
