Film Drop Off

The Old Film Drop Off Box At Barry’s Camera

The other day while out walking around Lafayette I walked by the old Barry’s Camera Shop. I have not been there in a while, and certainly not up close. When I saw this old film drop off box I had the thought that if I had a time machine I would have bought all of their old film supplies when they went out of business. Those machines were near the end of their life we thought at the time, but the resurgence of film has made them worth a ton of money now. How cool would it be to have a local shop that develops film today?

History Repeating

Whenever I go by the old Barry’s store I have great memories of the shop that was there. I bought my first real camera there.  My first 70-200mm lens was purchased in the store after I rented one a ton of times. It was a big step for my business to have a 70-200mm lens. Rena sold me both of those items along with many more. She later opened her own camera store after Barry’s closed. Now in a month her store Camera Outfitters is closing. In a month we will not have a local camera shop anymore. While they are still open head down to Market Square and see if they have anything that you need.
