Covering Golf At Purdue For Xavier
For many years now I have covered sports for Xavier. It has been a fun relationship that has even had me cover life events for them outside of the sports world. It is always fun to see their name come up on the Purdue schedule. For a few years they would play volleyball around the Labor Day weekend. This year it was women’s golf. Over the years I have been lucky enough to have a couple of schools come my way that have been very good to me. It is always nice when they come to town.
Covering Golf
I might say this about other sports, but golf is the hardest sport that I cover. At most events when you are out of position you can still see the play. On a golf course your athletes are so spread out that it is impossible to find every moment. You have to stick with a golfer and capture what you can. There were a few times over the two days when I saw something cool happen a couple of holes away. You have to have the mindset that you can only capture what is happening with the golfer that you are with. I don’t cover golf often. The last time was in 2019 when the NCAA Championships were here. I learned a lesson then though that you should only pick one team if you want to do it right. I didn’t capture every moment, but I had a lot of fun with what I was able to do. Below are a few of my favorite photos from the two days that Xavier was here.
