Three Cameras At Ross Ade Stadium
This blog can be kind of funny sometimes. I can post images right after I make them or it can take a while for them to show up on here. With the first game of the years coming up I thought it would be fun to look at three images that I made at Ross Ade Stadium last fall. I saw one of them right away, but with the slow process of film it took me a while to see one of them. Below I will take a look at three images that I made at Ross Ade Stadium on a late October day last year. One of them is with my mirrorless camera, and the other two are with film cameras of mine.
Canon AE-1 And CineStill 50D
This image was made in October, and I didn’t see how it came out until I got film back in July of this year. Because the film had such a low ISO rating I didn’t take that camera out on many walks. The conditions had to be perfect for it to go out with me. It took a while, but the photo that came out of it was pretty cool. The scoreboard is still pretty new, but I like the way this film gives it an older look. I think that I overexposed this image a little bit. You can see some of the whites getting blown out a little. Overall though I don’t mind the image.
Sony A7RIII
I made this image with my everyday camera that I take with me. I know this thing better than any other camera that I have. It kind of shows here as I think I nailed the exposure and the framing. It is my favorite image of the three. My 24-105 lens that was on here is my favorite walk around lens by far. It was the first Sony lens that I bought when I made the switch, and I still use it nearly every day over five years later.
Sears TLS And Portra 400
I made this image with my old Sears camera with some Portra 400 in it. I got this camera after my uncle died, and I have tried to keep using it ever since. I started a long project with it right away, but now I get quite a bit of use out of it. As of this writing it needs a little work, and hopefully by the time this post goes live it will have already gotten that and been back to me. I had the camera loaded with one of my favorite films. Portra 400 is a great film that is meant for scenes like this. It gives good colors, and in the fall that is what you want.
Final Thoughts On The Three Photos
Sometimes these posts can make it hard on me to choose an image. This time though it was pretty easy. The image with my Sony is my favorite by far. I like the idea of both of the film images, but I don’t feel like I nailed them. It is still fun getting out there and making images with my film cameras though. Which of these three images is your favorite?
