Trying A Roll Of Film Out In Downtown Lafayette
One fun thing that I have been doing lately is trying out some expired film. The local camera store Camera Outfitters ends up with expired film that they will let me have to try out. Some of it has a definite expiration date, but most of it I am just blindly making photos with. The is a roll that I knew nothing about. There was a definite gold cast to it that I didn’t expect. Fuji usually has a greener look to it. I really like how it turned out in a couple of these photos. The photo above of the Coke ad just off of Main Street is one that really stood out to me.
Permission To Fail
As a photographer you are often asked to not fail when making photos. You have events and other photos sessions where you can’t fail. It can be a lot of pressure at times. It is kind of neat to go out with a roll of film that you know nothing about and make photos. Maybe they work out. Maybe they don’t. It is a freeing feeling to give yourself permission to fail. Whenever this business starts to stress me out a little I will go out and try something weird that might not work. I tell myself that it will fail and it will be alright. It is a great way to just get rid of any expectations and just have fun making photos.

I like the look of these film photos. I can see how not worrying about failing can make photography more enjoyable.
