Testing Out The Minolta SRT 101 On The Campus Of Purdue
A few weeks ago I picked up a Minolta SRT 101 from Camera Outfitters. I had a 24 exposure roll of Kodak Tri-X to use to test it out. I wanted to know if the light seals were still working and if everything was good. I went for a short walk on campus to make some photos so I could find out if the camera worked. I had a good walk, and it led to one of my favorite sunset photos of the year so far. Of course this camera was loaded with black and white film so I was lucky to have a couple of other cameras with me that night.
Testing The Camera Out
In the photos below I tried to really test the internal meter on this camera. I tried putting the bright sky in the frame as well as subjects in the shade. It performed really well for the most part. Below are a few photos from my walk. It really is amazing how the light meters on these older cameras still give you good readings after all these years. The mercury batteries that would have been in there are no longer available so you have to use something close. Even with that in mind the results are pretty cool.
