Taking Three Cameras To Pao Hall For Some Photos
I love having some fun at a subject. Sometimes I will use all of the cameras in my bag to make a photo of the same subject. It lets me see what each of the cameras can do best. For this round I had three different cameras. I had an old film camera that I was testing out. I had my trusty everyday camera with me as well. For the third camera I had my infrared camera with me to really change things up a bit. Below is a look at what I was able to capture with each of the cameras.
Fujica AX-3
This was my new toy at the time. I was trying out some film in it to see if everything was working correctly. I only have one lens for this camera and it is the Fuji 50mm f/1.6 lens. My other two lenses on this project were a little wider so this was a way to make a slightly different photo. I really like the look of this photo, and that is probably due to the fact that I have Ektar 100 in the camera. I love this film, and it makes these sunny summer days look so good.
Sony A7RIII
This is my normal everyday camera. Paired with my Sony 24-105mm lens it gives me a great walk around combination. This photo just doesn’t do it for me though. At the time I was trying for the same composition as the infrared camera that you will see below. Looking back I should have gone in tighter to around the 50mm composition that I had with my film camera.
Sony A7RIII (Infrared Conversion)
This is where things get a little fun. I love days like this with scenes like this for the infrared camera. I have already shared a different photo from this session that I used a color swap technique on for some fun. You can find that photo here. I like that photo with a little color in it, but I made this photo thinking about black and white. The photos just look so good when you show the reflected light in them. The blue sky turns black and is the perfect background for the trees which go white. I really like how this photo turned out as well.
Picking A Favorite
Part of this kind of an experiment is to make the photos and then pick which one that I like the best from the session. This time the choice is not so easy for me. I think that the normal camera setup photo with the regular Sony is an easy one to say pass on. I really like how the Ektar 100 looks with the Fuji, but I also really like the way the infrared black and white photo turned out. I think that I will be a proud parent and say that I like both of them equally. Which one is your favorite?
