A Day To Remember

Remembering Those We Lost Today

Today is a day to remember those that we have lost in the military. The holiday started as Decoration Day shortly after the Civil War and the date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom at that time for decorating. Over the years more wars have led to more lives to remember. I think that over the years the original intent of the weekend gets lost a bit. In the early part of the 1900’s veterans thought the same thing. A new race in Indianapolis was leading to partying on the weekend. I can only imagine what those people would think of what the weekend has become now. It is usually a great time to buy a mattress. No matter what today take a minute and think about what some had to give for what we have today.

Murals

This week my theme in the afternoon will be murals. This mural in Otterbein was something that I knew that I wanted to post today. I have found so many cool murals on my photowalks that they deserve a week for themselves. With today being Memorial Day though this will be the only post of the day.
