Spotlight On The Pitcher

The Sun Comes Out To Make An Appearance

Wednesday night after the West Side softball game I walked over to the baseball field with the team. West Lafayette baseball was taking on Central Catholic. For over a decade I have covered a ton of West Side baseball games, but this would be my first this year. It was my first high school game of the year. In the past I would have been to many more already, but the schedule has not been kind for that. I stayed just over an inning before I had to go, but the light really came to play during that time. The way the clouds were set up it was coming down in little spotlights all over the field. I tried to find a couple of positions to use it to my advantage. This was my favorite of those photos.

Giving A Multi-Exposure A Try

One of my favorite in camera tricks used to be multi-exposures. For the last five years though since I switched to Sony I cannot do that. I have to do it in post. That is not much fun, but the light here was saying that I should do it so I gave it a try. I really like how this turned out. It really works well to show off the motion of the pitcher. I really need to try this on the softball field.

A Couple Of Bonus Photos

As I said above I didn’t stay at the game long. I left shortly after the softball team did so that I could pick up my athlete. It was fun while I was there though. I love that field at Central Catholic, and I will use any chance that I can to visit it. I really need to get to Bob Friend this year too. Here are a few bonus photos that I liked from my time at the park.
