Helen At The Well Watches The Eclipse

Helen At The Well Ready For The Eclipse

Part of the fun of the day yesterday was exploring a new town. I was deciding where to go up until the last moment yesterday. I had a couple of ideas, but I was hoping to find something with an amazing foreground. We ended up in Thorntown, Indiana to see the eclipse. It was a town fairly close, easy to get to, and had nearly two minutes of totality. The location I picked was pretty random, but that is the fun of it all. We arrived to town a little early so we decided to walk around and check some things out. I think we all made a photo of the Helen At The Well statue at the library. The solar glasses for the eclipse were a nice touch.

When People Descend On A Town

The weird thing about an eclipse is that you don’t get to pick if your town is participating or not. The path just goes through where you live. I had to think that this small town of Thorntown may have doubled its population during the eclipse yesterday. Some of the residents that we encountered didn’t seem to like the extra attention. Some had little pop up stores to cash in on the new faces coming to town. It was kind of interesting to see how the people of the town handled the day.
