Vermont Basketball Advances In The WNIT
Last night I was back in Mackey one last time to photograph Vermont as they took on Purdue. It is always good to be in Mackey, and this year I had two extra games to get in there and make photos. This was a fun game to cover because early on it looked like Purdue was going to be too much for Vermont. At one point I was just hoping for a close game in the second half so that I could get a couple of bench celebration photos. I ended up with more than that as Vermont stormed into the lead and took the victory. This time of year you need someone to take control of the game, and Vermont had an Indiana native that decided that her season was not done. It was a fun way to end the basketball season for me with a little emotion.
Saying Goodbye To The Seniors
As Vermont was celebrating the win I realized that over my shoulder two Purdue seniors were spending their last moments on the court in a Purdue uniform. Both Abbey Ellis and Jeanae Terry finished their Boilermaker careers with milestones. The way that things worked out I had two extra chances to see them on the court, but I had no extra photos of them to show for it. This is a young Purdue team that really benefitted from the leadership of these two seniors. I really think the future is bright for the Boilers, and the foundation for what is to come was put down by Jeanae and Abbey.
More Photos From The Game
As I said above it is more than likely my last basketball game of the school year. When the year started I made a point to try and improve my basketball photography. I always have thought of it as my weakest sport. By the end of the year I feel like I did that. I can’t wait until next season starts to continue building on what I was able to do this year. Here are a few bonus photos from the game.
