Ten Years Of Business

A Special Date

Ten years ago today this whole crazy thing officially started. I had made photos on the floor at Mackey before this. I had even had my photos published before this date, but it was on this date that I made money making photos for the first time. I had been just giving my basketball photos to Purdue during the season up until this point. That was a thing that kept going until last year when I didn’t get a pass. It is hard to believe that this crazy thing has lasted this long. I thought at the time that people will figure out that I don’t know what I am doing right away, but they did not. This has been a crazy ride that has taken me to some crazy places. I love thinking that it all started in Mackey though. A really cool fact is that on the other end of the court for the other team was Charles Jischke who I really looked up to. He was this guy that had done it all. Down the road we would work together which will always be a highlight of this ride.

Ignorance Is Bliss

My first ever gig was an NCAA Tournament game. Thinking back I should have been scared to death, but I knew so little at the time that I didn’t know that I should have been nervous for the gig. I was very sure of myself as a photographer with nothing to back that up. I really thought that I was ready to work for SI at the time. I quickly found out that I wasn’t though, and I have had a blast working to get better over the last ten years. Hopefully that work is not done, and I can keep getting better over the next decade.
