Snow Falls At Heavilon Hall

A Snowy Morning At Heavilon Hall

This is part of my morning walk from a week ago on a snowy campus. Today the temperatures are closer to what they were that day, but we have had an early spring in between. This spring and summer I want to photograph this building as much as possible. It will be coming down soon so I want to document a building where my wife and I both had classes. A snowy day is a good start to that project.

A Crazy History

As I said earlier this building is about to come down after the school year. The original Heavilon Hall was finished in 1894. Four days after it was dedicated it burned down. Famously the building was rebuilt one brick higher the next year. That version of Heav Hall was taken down in 1956 and the current version of it was built in 1959. Now it is time for this version to come down. As enrollment on campus keeps going up I imagine that all of the new buildings will be built a few bricks higher than what was there before them. It will be interesting to see what is built on this site. Until then I will keep finding ways to photograph this building.
