Unexpected Photos

Yesterday I was down at the river with the idea of making photos of the eagles as they feasted on the fish that were trapped in the ice. As the ice receded they had a field day grabbing lunch. Before I left though a ring billed gull grabbed a fish that was a little big to swallow right away. One of the other gulls saw what was going on and gave chase. It was a brief encounter, but it was fun to photograph. Below you can see some of my favorite images from that chase.

 

The Black And White Photo

I am in the middle of posting a black and white photo a day on the blog. With the white bird there were some chances to make some interesting black and white images. I kept waiting for it to fly into an area with a dark background. I think that this turned out very well. Before the chase happened this was probably the image of the day today. Now it will sit at the bottom of the post.
