Reflecting On The Sparkletone Sign

Using The Infrared On The Sparkletone Cleaners Sign

I can’t believe that it took me until nearly halfway through this black and white project before I broke out the infrared camera. It is a way to really get some interesting black and white images. I have been documenting the end of some of the businesses down near the Levee in West Lafayette lately. They are all slowly closing and they will be torn down later this year. The Sparkletone Cleaners sign is a great throwback sign that as a photographer I wish that there were more of. Here it looks pretty good with the black and white conversion of my infrared image.

Missing A Good Infrared Day

I went out for the afternoon today with two ideas. I really knew that the clear blue sky would be great for infrared images. I left the house with that in mind, but also took my long lens in case there were a couple of eagles on the Wabash. I saw seven eagles sitting around waiting to fish on the Wabash so of course my plans changed quickly. I ended up making eagle photos and only had a few minutes to make my infrared images.
