The Catch

Making The Catch

When I hear the phrase ‘the catch’ I think of a couple of things. Willie Mays making a grab in the World Series over his shoulder comes to mind right away. Dwight Clark making a grab in the end zone also comes to mind. Dewayne Wise coming in as a defensive replacement and robbing a home run to save Mark Buehrle’s perfect game is a more recent memory. It is Super Bowl week so that means that the eagles are active down by the river. I don’t know why they congregate more this time of year there, but for some reason I go a long time without seeing them, but they show up in numbers during the week leading up to the big game.

The Waiting Game

I have spent the last couple of days down by the river waiting for something interesting to happen. I spent a few hours just seeing them fly far away from me or just sit in the trees. Yesterday for two hours one eagle watched a fish just flop around in the water just in front of it. The eagle and the fish were close to me so I really wanted something to happen. For the better part of two hours nothing happened. With just a few minutes before I had to leave I started talking to the eagle letting it know that it was now or never. That eagle never left the tree. Lucky for me an eagle across the way finally saw the fish and came swooping down to get it. You can see that series of photos below. A lot of patience paid off with a fun series of images. Just to keep the black and white theme going I will include one black and white photo at the bottom of the post. This was a cool moment that seemed too fun to wait to post.
