Another Baseball Scrimmage

Getting Out To Another Baseball Scrimmage

This is the time of year when I will photograph anything related to baseball. I normally am not a fan of scrimmages, but with no real baseball being played I will take what I can get. On Sunday it was a beautiful day for February here so it made sense to get out and make some photos outside. It is good to be back outside making sports pictures again after being cooped up inside this winter.

Follow Mike

One thing that I have learned over the years covering Purdue baseball is to put my camera on Mike Bolton Jr. when he is on the field. In the series above he is hit by a pitch, steals second, steals third, and he then scored on a ball hit into the infield. That is manufacturing a run. I loved how it looks like he is smiling as the ball hits him. He knows what is about to happen. When Mike leads off an inning good things usually happen.

Scrimmage Emotion

One reason why I am not a big fan of photographing scrimmages is the lack of emotion. One of the first photos that I made on the day was Jackson Dannelly showing some emotion, and the last photo that I made was of Avery Cook letting some emotion out. I didn’t expect this out of a scrimmage, but I will take it. Below are a few bonus photos from a fun few innings at the scrimmage.
