Playing With The Light At The Purdue Scrimmage
Saturday was a day when I definitely had a plan for what I was going to do. I saw that Purdue was having a baseball scrimmage and my plan changed dramatically. I was going to photograph a basketball game at Harrison and then head to Kokomo for the sectional title game. Both of those teams have a team photographer though so they would do just fine without me at their games. That let me be free enough to have some fun and head out to photograph some baseball. My role at Purdue baseball has changed over the years. I used to contribute a lot to them, but now I will be shooting more stock images for the wire. When I rolled up to the stadium and saw that they were not in any kind of uniform I changed my plan a bit. There really isn’t a stock market for those image so I would just have some fun and go with where the light went. The batters box was never in the light so I still have yet to make a batting photo this year. I was just trying to have some fun with that lower light that you get in the winter. I had a ton of fun. I will not get to photograph baseball again for over a month so it was good to get out and see the sport again. The light was perfect for my black and white challenge this month as well.
More Images From The Scrimmage
As I said above this outing was more about playing and just being around baseball again. After being cooped up for basketball season it was nice to be outside making baseball photos again. In baseball if you get a hunch you can move so that you are in better position to capture the moment. In most winter sports you are tied to a spot. I had a ton of fun out there even if it was a little cold. It is always good to get out and get the rust out before the season begins. Below are a few images from the day that I liked.
