Main Street Reflections

Main Street Reflections

I spent part of this day uptown trying some things out. I wanted to try some photography through glass. Here I am going through a couple of panes which gives me an interesting reflection in the frame. The fun part about photography is that you can always try something new. This photo was the beginning of me trying to branch out a little. A way to see a very familiar spot in a much different way. I love how you can place the photo by the bit of marquee that is showing in the upper left part of the frame. I will have to try this same idea at night. I bet it would look so much better.

In Search Of Saul Leiter

Have you ever really been inspired by someone? I get that a lot. At the end of last year going into this year I found a photographer named Saul Leiter. He would consider himself more of a painter than a photographer, but he did amazing things with his cameras. He loved making photos through glass and the reflections that he would get from them. I have been playing around with that idea for a while now. This was one of my first attempts at trying to mimic his work. Saul was mostly a color guy, but he did do some black and white work. In February I am going to really dive into some black and white work. I have a couple of photographers that have inspired me so at least one post a day will feature a black and white image. I am sure that I will be able to work a Saul Leiter reflection or two into the month.
