A Quiet Moment At The Oppenheimer Building
Last week I went to downtown Lafayette to photograph the fog. Of course once I got into town I saw the the fog was only really higher up in West Lafayette. I ended up heading to campus where I made some photos that have made it onto the blog already. Before I left downtown Lafayette though I made this photo of the Oppenheimer building. Because of the time of day it was pretty quiet downtown so I had the building all to myself. I really like how this photo turned out.
A Little About The Oppenheimer Building
This building was originally a bank in downtown Lafayette. The Oppenheimer brothers bought the building and turned it into a clothing store called ehe Baltimore Clothing House. The apparently did very well for themselves and they made a lot of changes to the building over the years. In 1914 they remade the facade of the building to what we see today. This really is a cool building, and by learning a bit about it I also learned about the Oppenheimer house just down the road from here. More on that later.
