Heading To Campus To Make Some Photos
I really have not spent much time on campus so far this year. I think that it is just how things have been going so far that I haven’t gone up there. Yesterday I dropped the kids off at school after a two hour delay and decided to go for a quick walk. As I parked I watched the temperature go from 0 to 1 degree above zero. That one degree is a big difference so I decided to start off the long way for my walk. I ended up settling on this for my first photo of the day. I had crossed the street with the young man going into the Union, and his Purdue hat and scarf were a perfect point of interest to separate this photo from some others that I have made from this same spot.
Making Photos In The Cold
I honestly would rather make photos in the extreme cold than the extreme heat. It doesn’t seem like that long ago when I was making photos on those super hot summer nights when it was still nearly 100 degrees after the sun had gone down. Here the temperature was barely above zero. You have to make sure that your gear stays a consistent temperature when you are out in the cold. You can’t have the gear get too warm during the shoot as it will start to fog up. The next time you pull it out when you are outside that condensation will then freeze and you will be done making photos for a while. Here I made a couple of quick photos and then made my way home. Today it should be a little bit warmer so I may try and get a little further down the road than I have been going.
