Finding A New Subject
For some reason I had not photographed this new parking garage yet. It has shown up the background of a couple of photos, but I had not made it over there yet. In the old days I had eaten at Sylvia’s Brick Oven a few times which used to stand where this garage now sits. Thursday night I had about an hour to kill in this area so I went out to find something new. As soon as I saw this garage I had this idea for the black and white photo that is above. Once you edit and use the same presets enough you can start to picture what the photo will look like after you are done editing it. This is pretty much what I was thinking of when I hit the shutter button.
Trying Something Else
This year I want to also try something else when I am out and about. I find that at times I come up with an initial idea, but I can often improve upon it. Here I decided to use the natural color of the building and then drag my shutter to let the lights of the cars passing by show up. I think that I still like the black and white photo better, but it was fun trying to some up with something else. This building has a lot of potential. I will have to visit it again to see what else I can do with it. When I was younger municipal buildings were all built in the boring brutalist style. They were just boring buildings that served a function. Here this one still serves a function, but is also pretty cool to look at.
