A Fun Doubleheader

Two Games In Two Arenas Back To Back

Photographing two basketball games in a row is not a novel concept. This year I have done the JV and varsity doubleheader a few times. Moving to a new arena shortly after the first game can add to the degree of difficulty a little. Last night I photographed the battle of Salisbury between Harrison and West Lafayette at West Lafayette high school. As soon as the game was over and the teams had gone to their locker rooms I grabbed my gear and walked over to Mackey Arena to photograph a top ten battle between Illinois and Purdue. The high school game started about two hours before the game at Mackey started. Somehow things worked out to where I could have my photos from the high school game edited and captioned before Purdue tipped off. Everything really worked in my favor to let me make photos at both events.

A Battle Of Top Ten Teams In Mackey

The Purdue and Illinois game was a fun one. As I said yesterday this was the first time that there was a top ten matchup in Mackey since 2010. That was a special season, and this one is looking like it will be special as well. This was a tight game near the end, and even without the student section Mackey was rocking. There are a few more home games left where hopefully we can see this Purdue team playing like they are capable of.

The Battle Of Salibury

I will admit that I did not expect West Lafayette to come out ahead in this game. They played hard and their shots fell. Harrison played hard too, but there were a few stretches where shots were just not falling. This is always a good game between schools not far from each other. The final score did not show how close this game was near the end. The fans got some entertainment on a Friday night.

More Photos From The Night

You can view my gallery for the Journal and Courier from the high school game here. It has been fun dipping my toes into working for the paper these past few weeks. Give the link a click and let them know that it is worth hiring me. These galleries are always fun putting together. By the time that this post goes live I will be photographing swimming and diving for them today. Look for that gallery to go live later today as well.
