A Nice Backup Photo

In November I went out looking for owls. I have a spot that I have seen them over the years and when they do show up I don’t have other photographers chasing them around to ‘get the shot’. On this day I did not find any owls, but this barn came at the perfect time for the rising sun to come up right over it. When I go out on these trips the goal is always to make a photo of an owl. Of course I will never pass up an amazing barn photo. A barn owl in one of the windows of the barn would be an amazing image. I can always dream right?

Passing On The HDR Image

When this blog started this image would have had no contrast and probably hurt the eyes. In fact I think that I made a photo of this barn that did that back in the day. Part of my growth as a photographer is realizing that we all know what a barn looks like so I don’t need every detail of that barn in my photo. I kind of like have most of this barn in the shadow letting you fill in the details of what it could look like.
