Making My Annual Purdue Union Christmas Tree Photo

For over a decade now I have been going down to the Purdue Union later at night to make a photo of the Christmas tree. It is a fun tradition to document the tree. This year I decided to try something a little different. Instead of the normal horizontal image I went with a vertical image. That way I can show off more of the cool architecture of the union. It also lets me get rid of some of the distractions on the sides of the frame.

The Hits

Photos like this I call the hits. It is a photo that I make every year. I like making it, and if I leave it off the blog I will get messages asking where it is. In fact this year it is late to the blog and I have heard about it already. There are certain things that you do in photography because it is expected. The fun is trying to find new ways to play the old hits.
