The Purdue Stone Lions Fountain
One part of campus that we enjoy on our family walks is the stone lions fountain. When my little one was much smaller I would lift her up to get a drink from the fountain. Now of course she has grown enough that she can drink from the fountain on her own. Part of the fun of walking campus during the years is seeing the growth of the little ones. Someday she will walk by this on her way to class hopefully and think of those days when she had to be lifted up to get a drink.
History Of The Fountain
This fountain has been at Purdue since 1904 after the class of 1903 gifted it to the university. It was given as a way for students to get a drink while walking through campus. At some point during the depression the water was turned off. After the turn of the century the Reamer Club stepped up and gave us the lion fountain that we see today. I am glad that they did as we have a fun attraction to visit on our way from one fountain run to another.
