Purdue Football vs. Minnesota

Purdue Gets A Win At Home Against Minnesota

Saturday was a fun day in Ross Ade Stadium. The Boiler offense was moving the ball a little bit, and that always makes it easier to make photos. I was only able to be at the first half of the game, but I was still able to see a few scores. During that half I don’t know if I ended up making a really great image. It seemed like every touchdown went away from me. Some games are like that. I had fun and got a few pictures out from the game though.

Waiting For The Flyover

During pregame I was trying to find out if there was a flyover planned for the game. For some reason that is always a secret. Because it was military appreciation day I assumed there had to be one, and so I climbed up as high into the stadium as I could. I had a photo similar to the one above planned, but with the planes filling the frame in the sky. Of course it never happened so I stayed up there for the runout to make the photo that you see above. This has been a fun year of getting into different spots for the runout. I like the traditional photo from the field level, but it is also fun to try something new. If we have another start with the sun in this position this photo gave me an idea to try for that game. You can also purchase this photo by clicking on it to go directly to my website.

Gambling A Bit

When you are going against other photographers for images you have to try and do things a little different than them. Here I moved off to the side to try and get that last bit of sun for the day into my frame. I had a vision of the play coming a little closer to me, but for a while I was just hoping for the ball to end up on this end of the field so I will take what I got. I didn’t make the stock image of this touchdown, but I made something different for me. Sometimes that makes me happier than making the same image as everyone else.

Welcome Back Champs!

It was awesome seeing the love that the 1999 Purdue women’s team was getting this weekend. They were a great memory from my time in school and it was a huge treat to get to photograph them. As the year goes on I will get a chance to photograph a couple more of the former members of that team, and as always one of them is on the current coaching staff. For more images of that 1999 team check out my basketball gallery here.

Having Some Fun Pregame

With the sun setting this was the perfect game to have some fun with it as it went down. With limited access I had to take whatever was right in front of me to make photos of. I really like how this image turned out. It is kind of simple, but again it is different for me. With one more game left this season in Ross Ade it is fun to still be trying things out.

The Leap Over The Pile

I have been making football images for a while now. This is the first time that I have made this photo of a player leaping over the pile for the end zone. It is just not a thing that teams do as much anymore. Here I was happy to make my photo, and maybe next time I will make a better one of it.

More Photos From The Day

I really think that I had a terrible game making photos. That is a great statement to keep you reading and looking at the photos to follow. Some days you just don’t get lucky. That was Saturday for me. Football season is winding down. I think that I photographed my last high school game on Friday night, and I have one more college game left. This was the year that I wanted to photograph as much football as I could. I have done that, and hopefully in a couple of weeks I can finish the season strong. Here are a few bonus photos that I liked from the day.
